About Us

Italian Language Centre (ILC) uses the communicative approach to language learning and teaching. Classes are held in a relaxed setting which encourages learners to develop and improve with confidence their conversational skills.

ILC is committed to achieving excellence in the delivery of its courses and therefore, only qualified and competent language teachers are employed. In keeping with this commitment, class sizes are kept to a manageable number of six, allowing the learner to practice speaking Italian.

Language courses offered by ILC are in line with current LOTE outlines as specified by the Victorian Department of Education and by the European Union guidelines for language learning and teaching Il Quadro Comune Europeo per le Lingue.

In order to keep up to date on current developments in language teaching and policies as well as maintaining a connection to cultural, political and social events in Italy, ILCis a member of such professional organisations as VATI (Victorian Association of Teachers of Italian) and the Italian Cultural Institute in Melbourne. ILC also has a professional relationship with the University for Foreigners of Siena, (Universita’ per Stranieri di Siena) one of the leading Italian universities in the field of applied linguistics.
